Kështu janë shprehur figura të rëndësishme brenda partisë dhe vëzhgues të jashtëm të jetës politike në Shqipëri. Në plan të parë burimi i krizës së PD-së gjendet tek humbja e zgjedhjeve të 25 prillit dhe shpallja persona non-grata nga Departamenti i Shtetit (DASH) të Sali Berishës, themeluesit dhe liderit që ka shënjuar historinë e partisë në opozitë dhe pushtet për më shumë se dy dekada. POLITIKO 18 KORRIK 2021, 20:45 Nga Altin Gjeta Fill pas zgjedhjeve të 25 prillit kam argumentuar se Partia Socialiste i fitoi zgjedhjet me mjete parapolitike. Prandaj kam qenë i mendimit se Partia Demokratike si fillim do të duhej të analizonte zgjedhjet duke marrë në konsideratë edhe mendimet dhe gjetjet e faktorëve shoqëror jashtë PD-ës pasi zgjedhjet nuk janë domen ekskluziv i partive politike, mandej në një fazë të dytë të bënte analizën e brendshme. Kjo do ta ndihmonte atë të mbante të fokusuar vëmendjen e opinionit publik tek problemi kryesor i tranzicionit shqiptarë, deformimin e zgjedhjeve, mekanizmit kryesor të një demokracie elektorale, si dhe kuptonte më mirë gabimet e saj para dhe gjatë fushatës së 25 prillit. He was elected Prime Minister after years of struggling in the streets of Kosovo against almost everyone. The Self-Determination Movement (Vetevendojse in Albanian) was founded as a protest grassroots movement while Kosovo was under the administration of the international community in the 2000s and then was transformed into a political party after Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008. Unlike most parties in the Balkans, Vetevendojse was inspired by leftist anti-colonial movements of the modern era mixed with a fervent nationalist rhetoric. This March marked the 30th anniversary of the first multi-party elections in Albania that followed the fall of the communist regime, which, according to Neil Kritz, researcher at the American Institute for Peace, was one of the most tightly closed regimes in the world. For about half-a-century, this brutal regime built and ruled through the State Security Service, known as the Sigurimi in Albanian, one of the most oppressive secret police apparatuses in the world. By the late 1980s, it is estimated to have recruited tens of thousands of people, while more than one third of the total population formed part of its extensive information network. Under the leadership of the communist elite, the Sigurimi is estimated to have executed more than 6,000 people, investigated, persecuted, imprisoned for life and interned in inhumane prisons and camps thousands more, while instilling fear in every corner of Albania. The ruling Socialist Party, led by Prime Minister Edi Rama won a thin majority, though sufficient to form a new government in September when the tenure of the new parliament kicks off. This will make Rama the only incumbent Premier to win a third term in the history of post-communist Albania.  However, Rama’s victory is set to foreclose the fragile democratic life and struggling – and finally tear down the democratic façade upheld by the international community throughout Albania’s prolonged transition.
